Having a healthy and fulfilling relationship does not just happen overnight. It takes effort & creativity to reignite your relationship in and out of the bedroom. We spoke with Kristie Lynn, who has been part of the sensual product industry for more than 14 years as a relationship, sex and intimacy coach. She helps moms reprioritize their relationship with themselves and their partner after having kids so they can lead happy, healthy lives and a sexually fulfilling relationship. Here’s what she told us about all the issues that her clients face and her tips and tricks.
Hormone levels are in constant change after kids. Your body after having a baby is calling you to focus on them. Breastfeeding, exhaustion and postpartum affects your hormones and your sex drive takes a deep dive.
A woman's body after a baby goes through many changes, both internally and externally. Your body doesn't look the same, your breasts are sagging, you now have a mom pouch. A woman feels far from sexy after she gives birth, which sets them up for postpartum depression and feelings of anxiety and a lack of self-confidence.
When women are overworked and sleep deprived, their libido suffers, sex becomes a chore on the to-do list that gets put on the back burner because they don't have the energy.
There's a Solution to Everything
There are several ways to create desire and help to increase libido. Natural supplements, exercise, vitamins, diet and self-care routines have the ability to increase sex drive and help balance hormones. Masturbation, using lubricants, bedroom toys and foreplay items can make things fun again. The more you practice, the better you will feel and your desire will increase.
Don't do what most moms do and feel guilty asking for help. Sure, no one can take care of your kids like you, but wouldn't you rather ask for help so you can actually be present for your children when they need you the most?
Looking at yourself daily in the mirror and noting what you love, telling yourself you are beautiful, you are sexy and you are gorgeous despite all the imperfections you see.
Making time for connection is key. Planning is required when you have kids and are juggling multiple schedules. Plan date nights, conversations, self-care, even sex. Schedule it on the calendar and don't worry about the lack of spontaneity. Think of it as a vacation. We plan a vacation and the excitement is still there.
